About BLT-Web.com

This website was conceived and designed to be a good resource for new or struggling webmasters.
There is a ton of helpful information on the internet, but finding it - and getting the real information out of the fluff - takes a lot of time and effort. I know, I've been there.
If you are trying to make a website, attract visitors, make sales, etc. and are finding that it wasn't as easy as it seemed... you are not alone.

In fact, there are thousands of people who start a new website every month. Want to hear a startling statistic? Almost 85% of those websites are abandoned within the first six months.

I've read a variety of theories about why so many are giving up. I believe that it has a lot to do with the fact that people are told repeatedly that they don't have to work for their money.

They are told that all they have to do is buy into some program, put up a website, slap a couple banners and links on it and the money will start pouring in.
  That is a LIE.

Here is the TRUTH, and it ain't pretty:
~ Nobody is going to build your business for you.
~ They Do Not have a 'miracle' product that does everything.
~ Their "System" Will Not  "Do All The Work For You".
~ You simply can't make $5,000 a month for doing Nothing.
~ Anybody that tells you different, then asks for money, is LYING.
~ If you are unwilling to work at it, if you don't at least try, you will fail.

...and That, my friends, is the Truth. Period.

This website is designed to help you make your website successful.
I don't care what your website is about, I don't care where you are from or who you are... I'm just sick of the lack of personal commitment on the internet and want to do my small part to help.
I can't tell you how many times I've seen a new website come online and watched as the webmaster struggled with getting noticed & making sales. Just paying the minimal costs of being online were too much for some and they disappeared.

What help you can get here:

Thats Me   About me: Hi, my name is Tim Brown, I live in S.E.Idaho with my teen-age daughter and work full-time as a webmaster. It is the only work I've done for more then two years now, and while it's not entirely without frustrations, it's still light-years ahead of working for someone else.

I've been at this game for quite a while, so I have learned quite a bit.

I started my first website in late 1999... it was really pathetic. I didn't know it at the time, of course, but it violated just about every web design 'standard' that there was - even for 1999. Eventually I gave up.

I put up another one summer of 2000... it was better, made some money off it, but when the "dot-com crash" hit most of my advertisers evaporated or just didn't pay, so I abandoned that one too.

I played around with the idea for a while, started a couple of personal sites on free servers, didn't really know what i wanted to do online. I just know that there was a Ton of money to be made online, but no real idea of how.

In 2002 some of my friends got together and decided to collaborate on a 'freebie' website - Abbys Good Stuff - and I worked on that when time permitted. After about six months I persuaded Abby to let me pay for a domain and hosting. We moved the site and I took over the affiliate program management for that website.
This freed her up for what she likes to do - find and share freebies - while I concentrated on making the whole thing pay for itsself.
It's just her and I now, running that website, but I haven't done too badly - at least I don't have to keep a full-time job and all the bills are getting paid.

More recently I've made a few retail websites that utilize merchant datafeeds: Abbys Pet Shop, Abbys lingerie Shop and myLoveToyShoppe... these take only a little maintenance, mainly just updating the datafeed once a week or so...

Other internet projects I've been involved in lately have mainly been helping local site owners improve their websites... I don't try to dictate basic template design, just try to help improve SEO and conversions.

Along the way I learned a lot about web design. What makes a good design, what makes a bad design, and some of what it takes 'behind-the-scenes' to make a good website great. Plus a lot about affiliate programs, website promotion, how to attract and keep a lot of visitors...

There have also been many times when someone has asked me for help on a web design question, or some such related issue, and Abby herself has been after me since about 2004 to put this website together. I found that I really enjoyed helping people take a ho-hum website and make it better. There is a lot of satisfaction in helping someone reach their goals.

So, there it is - now you know how this web site came about.
