  If you can create web pages - then you can create and publish E-Books.
  There are several free ebook writers available, I've tried most of them at one time or another. The best free compiler I've seen is SBookBuilder10 available at jansfreeware.com - and for making a recipe ebook for your friends it's great.

  But if you're more interested in a top-notch e-book compiler I'd recommend that you try Activ E-Book Compiler - This is really easy to use and it's simply packed with powerful features. (It's the program I use, you've probably already seen some of the e-books I've made with it...;o) Check out the free evaluation and see if I'm right.

  It's easy to create software 'boxes' or e-book 'covers' for electronic products... if you have some good software.
  All you need is an image-editing program that creates a virtual 3D 'package' for your product, as it would look if it were sitting on the shelf at a book or software store. They give a visitor a 'visual anchor' and affect the perception of overall product quality. This can be a key motivating factor in their decision to download or not, so it's an important consideration.

For tight budgets, a low-cost solution is Scott's Box Shot Maker 4.0
  This program makes some excellent covers. For the price, I'd say it's great: Box Shot Maker is donationware - if you use it, the author asks that you donate. (Win95/98/2000/Me/NT/XP)
